Align
So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth.
1 JOHN1:6
Do you know what happens when the tires on your car get out of alignment? They start to wear unevenly, balding on one side. Then picture a man who went bald on the left side of his scalp but still had full treads on the right side—and then he tried to do that comb-over thing. Not a fabulous look.
Okay, mixed metaphors here. Maybe they are not helpful. Back to the tires. When the tires of your car lose their hair on the left side, the car wants to veer you out of your lane even if you try to steer straight. This wonderful mash-up of metaphors is just like your life with Jesus. If
you let yourself get out of alignment with him, two things happen: first, you begin to work harder to keep yourself from veering off the road, and second, even though you try to hold it together, people eventually begin to notice the inconsistency in your life. It’s called hypocrisy. And trust me, it’s not a fabulous look on anyone.
Pray for the Day:
Jesus, let me be true to you. Align me with your Spirit. Amen.
