Get Connected
Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.
ROMANS 12:10
It’s way too easy to be passive about relationships sometimes. It’s nice to be noticed and to be loved. It’s great when others ask you questions about yourself or celebrate things about you. But if you were to live every day wishing people would do these things for you, life would become a miserable monotony of isolating stress. It doesn’t make healthy sense to spend your time getting anxious about others becoming your Facebook friend, or clicking Like on a post, or watching your Vine loops, or retweeting you.
What if you took the initiative to show love toward your friends? What if you were proactive about connecting with others rather than being passive? What if you took the step to ask your friends questions, to celebrate their unique qualities? Over and over again in the Bible, people are encouraged to become risk-takers for the benefit of others. Paul told the Romans, for instance, to use their unique gifts to sincerely connect and serve one another. Followers of Jesus are to set the pace in developing healthy, real relationships.
Pray for the Day:
Dear Jesus, motivate me to become someone who truly connects with others. Let me take the initiative to be a good friend. Amen.
