Your Home
Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay.
1 P E T E R 4 : 9
In his first letter, Peter offers great advice, challenging advice, and some downright oh-man-that-is-really-going-to-change-my-life advice. It was just the sort of advice that enabled the first followers of Jesus to transform the course of history. One piece of advice urged the early Christians to continually offer their homes to others. But, Peter said, don’t open up your houses and beds and dinner tables begrudgingly. Don’t do it as a “sacrifice” that burdens you. No, share all that you have with joy. Be happy about it. You get the chance to give what you have to someone else. How blessed you are to be able to bless someone else!
The example of early churches changed people. No one had ever seen such an unselfish, unencumbered community before. No one knew that humanity had such an incredible capacity to care for others. As this reality set in, neighborhoods, cities, and nations were turned upside down.
Pray for the Day:
Dear Jesus, let the generosity of your heart overflow in me. Amen.
