Hasty Mistakes
Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes.
PROVERBS 19:2
Have you ever stopped at your local coffee shop for a vanilla skinny latte with extra whip cream, a bit weary eyed from too little sleep the night before, and in line just in front of you was someone you thought you knew? This person had the same hairstyle and the same coat and height as your friend Haley. From a quick glance, it was definitely her. So you said what you would normally say when you see your friend Haley—you said, “Hey, Haley!” But your friend didn’t turn around. So then you did what any determined extroverted encourager would do in that situation—you took out your gloves and playfully smacked her in the back. You know, just to say hello. Well, this someone you thought was Haley turned around and looked at you with gaped astonishment. The only thing you could think of saying in the moment was, “Oops. You’re not Haley.” Real life reveals your deficiencies.
Pray for the Day:
Jesus, thank you for loving me through my everyday mistakes. Help me roll with them today, slow myself down, and be more aware of what I’m doing. Amen.
