June 30 – Stupid
To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction.
PROVERBS 12:1
Have you ever given a speech that you thought was incredible, only to have the teacher find some things wrong with it? You didn’t realize that you had said um twelve times, but the teacher noticed. You thought your opening illustration about the space monkey and the alien was hilarious, but the teacher thought it would have been better if you could have tied it in to your main point somehow. You thought you showed enthusiasm, but your teacher thought you talked too fast. Being corrected can feel really annoying if you’re not looking for it. You might even be tempted to get angry with the one who corrects your mistakes. Maybe you’re one of those people who always got a ribbon as a kid, even if you were in last place. Get over it. Learn from someone’s discipline. And do even better next time as a result.
Pray for the Day:
Dear Jesus, let me find my confidence in you, and be willing to bear the weight of correction in my life. Amen.
