May 19 – Unicorns and Grace
Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now
I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.
2 CO R I N T H I A N S 1 2 : 9
Wishful thinking. That’s how we treat grace. Almost like we treat unicorns. Unicorns are magical and pretty. They can fly and roast marshmallows from their horns. They seem so nice. Did you know that a group of unicorns is even called a “blessing”? But for real, if someone said to you, “Blessings on you,” would that be a good thing? What if a stampeding herd of unicorns
descended down upon you as these words left their mouth? They could trample you, hee-haw with terror, skewer you, and leave you covered in burnt sparkly marshmallows or something like that.
Thankfully, the difference between unicorns and grace is that grace is real. Don’t ever treat grace as wishful thinking, like it is a pretend thing that would be nice to have but is elusive and mythical. No, grace has the power to change lives for real. So accept the power of grace through Jesus in your life.
Be graceful and give a dramatic blessing of grace to others.
Pray for the Day:
Dear Jesus, your grace is all I need. Help me believe and live in that truth today. Amen.
