May 17 – Proud of the Tank Engine
For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes.
R OMA N S 1 : 1 6
Little kids try to hide bad things from their parents because they feel embarrassed. But no little kid has ever tried to hide something good from his or her parents. When kids have something that is joyful and fulfilling, they run to their parents and tell them loud and fast all about it. If a little boy sees on a video that Thomas the Tank Engine fell off his railroad tracks into the water, he might worry. But if he then saw Thomas’ friend James come along and pull him out and get him “back on track” (so to speak), that little boy just might run around with excitement and tell everyone about the good news. If he didn’t share, he’d burst.
For some reason, though, the world tricks us into thinking we cannot, or should not, feel the same way about Jesus. If we see God doing something great, it’s as if we’re conditioned to suppress our wonder or make our faith a private matter. But this is ridiculous. Jesus dying on the cross for our sins to give us abundant life, and get us back on track (so to speak), is better than
anything. Let it be known today what God has done in and through you.
Pray for the Day:
Dear Jesus, don’t let me feel embarrassed because I know you. There is nothing greater in my life than to follow you with my whole heart. Why should I be ashamed? Amen.
