Blinding Light
And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil.
JOHN 3:19
Heavy storms had created a melting mess on the salty, sandy, slushy road. A straight stretch of road was banked on both sides by huge walls of snow. In front was a truck, and behind was another truck. Brownish slop was spraying up onto the windshield, which made driving difficult. The wipers and washer fluid rid the glass of only half its mess.
As the road bent, the sun shattered through the low-lying clouds and smashed down on the stained windshield. As the sun hit the caked slop, the driver became completely blind. He couldn’t see anything in front of him except hardened slush and an intense spot trying to penetrate through the grime. Attacked by the sun, blinded panic rushed through the driver’s brain and fingers as he clutched the steering wheel that controlled his life. “Go away!” he yelled at the sun. “I want the shadows!”
As the road bent again, away from the direct glare of the light, the driver developed a deep gnawing fear that the sun had found him.
Pray for the Day:
Jesus, don’t let me be comfortable with driving blindly through life. As difficult as it is, help me give in to your brilliance. Amen.
