永在的父
“我又赐给他们永生；他们永不灭亡，谁也不能从我手里把他们夺去。我父把羊赐给我，他比万有都大，谁也不能从我父手里把他们夺去。我与父原为一。」”
约翰福音 10:28-30
以赛亚书9:6中，先知用来描述为我们而生的这位婴孩的第三个词是“永在的父”。弥赛亚，这位将要承载整个世界救赎重任的，要被称为“父”。希伯来语 Abbi- ’ad中，Abba是父亲的意思， ’ad指永远。也就是说，这个婴孩将来要永永远远做祂子民的父。
以赛亚说，当上帝的儿女回到父神身边时，都要回到这个婴孩的身边。
祂要保守他们、供应他们，并且源源不断地赐给他们温柔、保护和慈爱。祂将会牧养他们，引领他们，而且为他们舍命。而所有这一切都不只是一个人类生命的短暂时期，而是永生。这个孩子将是永在的父，天父永远不会舍弃自己的孩子。

主耶稣，在这圣诞的季节，让我看到的不只是一个马槽里可爱的小宝宝，愿祢帮助我看到 耶稣是我永在的父，祂永远与我同在。阿们。

Forever Father
“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.”
JOHN 10: 28–30
The third word pair that is used in Isaiah 9:6 to describe the child who will be born to us is that he is the “Everlasting Father.” The Messiah, this child who was to be born, this son upon whom the weight of the entire world would be carried, will be known as “Father.” The Hebrew for this title is Abbi- ’ad. Abba means Father, while ’ad refers to endlessness. That means this child will be a father to his people forever and ever.
When God’s children return to God the Father, Isaiah says, they will return to this child. He will stand guard over them, supply their needs, and cascade them with tenderness and protection and love. He will shepherd them, guide them, and lay his life down for them. All of this is not for a brief period of human life; rather, this child will be their Father forever (Isaiah 63:16), a Father who will never abandon his children.
Pray for the Day:
Lord Jesus, during this Christmas season, help me to not see just a sweet baby in the manger. Help me to see Jesus as the Everlasting Father who is with me forever. Amen.
