For His Mighty Power
In that wonderful day you will sing: “Thank the Lord! Praise his name! Tell the nations what he has done. Let them know how mighty he is!”
ISAIAH 12 : 4
Anarchy isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Or is it? Whatever anarchy is, it is certainly a mess that cannot control itself. Controlled anarchy would be the opposite of anarchy, after all. Anarchy is a void of power and the absence of control. The flames of it spread through terror and false agreements, fear and disasters. What people initially think of as “freedom from authority” quickly devolves into a civil war between power mongers.
Isaiah was concerned about this very thing 2,700 years ago. And yet, he had a vision. He saw the Servant of the Lord, the Messiah, rising out of the destruction of a nation, with the Spirit of the Lord resting on him, defending the poor and the exploited, ruling against the wicked and destroying them with the commissioning of his breath, and overwhelming them with fairness and truth (Isaiah 11–12). Isaiah’s fear of the disintegration of society was overcome by the coming King. Aren’t you glad someone is actually in control?
Pray for the Day:
Jesus, you are the hope of the nations. Commission me to tell the world about you. Amen.
