Greet Well
This letter is from Jude, a slave of Jesus Christ and a brother of James. I am writing to all who have been called by God the Father, who loves you and keeps you safe in the care of Jesus Christ. May God give you more and more mercy,
peace, and love.
JUDE 1 – 2
Whassup! How we greet each other says a lot about how we think about each other. The way that the writers of the New Testament greet people reveals an incredible attitude of blessing. Focusing on how to greet well is a good way to enter these winter months when some people tend to retreat and hibernate. Greeting people well prioritizes our hearts, gets us out of our shells, and prayerfully encourages others.
Paul begins all of his letters with some form of this greeting: “May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.” Peter launches his letters with these words: “May God give you more and more grace and peace.” John starts his third letter with a remarkable greeting to his friend Gaius: “To Gaius, my dear friend, whom I love in the truth.” And Jude begins his letter this way:
This letter is from Jude, a slave of Jesus Christ and a brother of James. I am writing to all who have been called by God the Father, who loves you and keeps you safe in the care of Jesus Christ. May God give you more and more mercy,
peace, and love.
JUDE 1 – 2
Pray for the Day:
Jesus, remind me to intentionally greet others with a blessing. Amen.
