Sharing Truths
O my people, listen to my instructions. Open your ears to what I am saying, for I will speak to you in a parable. I will teach you hidden lessons from our past— stories we have heard and known, stories our ancestors handed down to us. We will not hide these truths from our children;
we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about his power and his mighty wonders.
PSALM 78 : 1 – 4
Why is it that many of us who have long ago left the realm of childhood can learn more from children’s messages than all of the hymns and sermons of “big church”? Perhaps this is because children’s messages capture the simplistic beauty of Jesus while also drawing us into a more profound life, and adults have an inherent need to share their faith rather than sit on it.
Something spectacular happens to people when they see young people come alive with vibrancy of faith and hope and love through Jesus. Faith should not be reserved to the realm of adulthood. Faith is not ours; rather, it is ours to give. Someone at some point introduced us to a life-changing relationship with God, and now it is our turn to creatively and passionately pass that faith on.
Pray for the Day:
Jesus, if I ever become an old tightwad who is reluctant to share my faith, loosen me up—a lot! Amen.
