秋雨之福
“锡安的民哪，你们要快乐，为耶和华—你们的上帝欢喜；因他赐给你们合宜的秋雨，为你们降下甘霖，就是秋雨、春雨，和先前一样。”

十月一日可不是芝加哥小熊棒球队的好日子。在1932年世界大赛的第三场比赛中，在瑞格利球场（Wrigley Field）上，他们遇到强劲对手纽约洋基棒球队。在一片小熊队员的嘲讽怒骂声中，贝比·鲁斯（Babe Ruth）指着看台，站好姿势，等芝加哥队的查理·罗特击球后，挥杆，将球打到中外野。全垒打。这就是那个闻名遐迩的“贝比·鲁斯全垒打预告”。自1908年以来，小熊队一直没有赢得过世界大赛冠军，这一次又输了。不过，对小熊队的球迷们来说，机会还会有的。秋季比赛即将到来，小熊队迟早会再赢，对吗？
诗篇教导我们要展望未来，仰望上帝。不要迷失在已经发生的失败上，因为上帝会使一切更新。四季的更替就证明了这一点。正如树叶会色彩变换；气候会带来雨露滋润，上帝也会给祂的子民带来祝福。也许，我只是说也许，小熊队将再次赢得世界大赛。

Autumn Hope
Rejoice, you people of Jerusalem! Rejoice in the Lord your God! For the rain he sends demonstrates his faithfulness. Once more the autumn rains will come,
as well as the rains of spring.

October 1 is another one of those wrong-side-of-history days for the Chicago Cubs. In game three of the 1932 World Series, the Yankees had come to Wrigley Field. Babe Ruth was being ridiculed by some Cubs players, so he famously (or infamously?) pointed to the bleachers, took his stance, waited for the pitch from Chicago’s Charlie Root, swung, and hit the ball to deep center. Home run. The Cubs, who hadn’t won a World Series since 1908, had lost once again. For Cubs fans, though, there is always a chance. Once more the autumn games will come, and once more the Cubs will win. Eventually. Right?
The Psalms tell us to look ahead to the future, to what God will do. Don’t get lost in the calamities that have happened, because God will restore all things. He proves it each year by the seasons. Just as the leaves change colors, just as the weather brings rich moisture, so he will bring blessing to his people. And maybe, just maybe, the Cubs will win a World Series again.
