耶稣的眼神
“百姓站在那里观看。官府也嗤笑他，说：「他救了别人；他若是基督，上帝所拣选的，可以救自己吧！」”
路加福音 23:35
人群聚集在那恐怖的现场。他们站在那里围观，面对暴力和不公，既感到紧张又感到刺激。耶稣走向十字架的时候，人们只是满心恐惧地观看这可怕的一幕。他们不了解耶稣，还恼怒于耶稣。有人朝他大声喊叫，又有些人内心在诅咒他要他死。每个人都目不转睛地看着，却又不愿真正看到所发生的一切。耶稣被钉十字架是很可怕的情景，人们只能惊恐地注视着。
就在那一刻，当他被高挂在十字架上的时候，耶稣回头看着人群。他注视着那些看着他死去的人。他的眼里没有仇恨，而是充满着慈爱和怜悯。耶稣希望这些愚昧的人看着他的眼神，让他看进他们的灵魂深处，用他的赦免和盼望来取代他们的妄断和恐惧。
今日祷告：
耶稣，谢谢你上十字架为我舍身。让我仰望十架，让你的目光照亮我软弱的灵魂。阿们。
March 23 – Gawking
The crowd watched and the leaders scoffed. “He saved others,” they said, “let him save himself if he is really God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”

Crowds gathered at the scene of the horror. They just stood there, entranced at the violence and injustice, hypnotized by the spectacle of it all. When Jesus went to the cross, people just watched—afraid and captivated by the awfulness of the moment. People were ignorant and angry at Jesus. Some were shouting at him while others were silently condemning him to die. Everyone was unable to avert their eyes, and yet they were unwilling to truly see what was going on. The cross of Jesus was hideous—so horrific that people couldn’t help but stare.
Jesus, in that very moment, as he hung crucified, was looking back at the crowd. He had eyes on the very people that were watching him die. But instead of a look of revenge, Jesus had compassion in his sight. He wanted those gawkers to make eye contact with him so that he could peer into their souls and overcome their judgment and fear with his forgiveness and hope.
Pray for the Day:
Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for me. Let me look to the cross and look you in the eyes, allowing your gaze to brighten my frightened soul. Amen.
